  OUR STORY

The present-day Kelley Orchards was established in the early 1920s by the Jimerson family who built the house and barn which are still in use today. They had a diverse farm that included livestock and fruit crops – mainly apples and prunes. In the 1970s, they sold to the Stewarts who introduced sprinklers along with new fruit varieties and growing techniques.

By the late 1980s, the Stewarts were ready to move on and the Kelleys were ready to move in. In 1986, Ron and sister Kathy – both third generation fruit growers from California - took over with lots of ideas to re-vitalize the orchards! Kathy soon married and raised a family and fruit orchard just across the road. Ron stayed in the original farmhouse where he and his wife, Kimi, are raising their family.

Today, Kelley Orchards includes about 35 acres of fruit trees along with grapes, berries and tomatoes. With a focus on u-pick and the Barn store, we now grow multiple varieties of plums, pluots, pears, peaches, nectarines, cherries, berries, grapes and apples which ripen throughout the summer and fall. In addition, you’ll find our dried fruit, jams and other fruit products at the Barn store.

As a small family farm on a 100-year-old farm ground, we understand how important it is to think in the long term. Some of the things we do to maintain healthy soil and environment are:

  • Using 100% clean, renewable electricity on the farm (and home). Most energy is produced at the farm with solar panels. The rest is provided through Idaho Power’s “Green Power Program”.

  • Finding and implementing pest management techniques that are the least disruptive to the natural environment.

  • Using drip and sprinkler irrigation to eliminate soil erosion and increase water efficiency.

  • Maintaining permanent cover crops on most of the soil to prevent erosion and dust, encourage biological activity in the soil and provide habitat for native pollinators.
